Thinking ahead....

I can't believe in less than a week we will be celebrating Christmas!  I still have some wrapping to do and a few stocking stuffers to find this weekend!  Next year I have promised myself I will be more on top of things!

After Christmas everyone will start looking forward to the new year and I am no different.  This year was a year of huge changes for our family but I am looking forward to putting down some roots now and setting up some good routines and just being a better wife and mom.  I know the Lord will help me because His Word says "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength".

Two years ago my "word" for 2013 was FORWARD and little did I know how hard that year would be and how that word would sometimes be the focus of my life...just moving forward...one more minute, one more day, sometimes even one more breath.  In 2014 my word was BELIEVE.  I struggled through the entire year to believe many times...to believe that all things work together for good to those who love God, to believe that God has a plan even when we can't see it.  As the year comes to a close I look back and see how much God used that word this year to stretch me.

So what will my word for 2015 be?

Authentic

My goal in 2015 is to live an authentic life.

authentic
[ ôˈTHentik ]
ADJECTIVE
adjective: authentic · adjective: auth.
  1. of undisputed origin; genuine:
"the letter is now accepted as an authentic document"

One of the things that bugs me is FAKE.  Fake people, fake lives, fake stories.  I don't ever want to be fake.  I want to live an authentic life...warts and all.  I don't want to become fake and find that others are discouraged by me.  I don't want to make things seems perfect and make someone feel like they don't measure up.  I want to become better...a better wife, a better mom, a better homemaker, a better _______....but I want to be authentic in it.  I don't want to post pictures of my perfect house...I want to post pics of my real house.  You know the one that exploded on itself the moment the kids walk in the door from school.  I want to share this journey, this quest I am on to become better but only if I can be authentic in doing it.

So in 2015 my journey begins... I hope to share much of this journey here on Six Pack Adventures.

It's been a while since I attempted to post here on our blog.  Life has been busy with moving, school and church activities and just everyday "stuff".  It's hard to believe in just over a week we will be celebrating Christmas Day.  I have so much to still do but I have zero motivation to do any of it :)
Guess I better just get on it and forget about waiting to feel motivated huh?

Best Girl and Buckaroo ran a 5K last weekend and Princess ran the one mile fun run for kids.  Buckaroo never ran before and ran a 26:33 so we were pretty pleased with that.  He is planning to run cross country in high school next year so this was a good way to see if he is suited for running.  Best girl ran a 29:38 which isn't her best time but she hasn't been running daily like she was earlier in the fall.  Princess ran a 9:08 mile which for a girl whose never run was probably pretty good.  She came in 8th in the fun run.

The new year is only a few weeks away now and I really need to get some things figured out around the new house here....better routines, chore schedules, etc...I also really need to work on finding a way to start feeling more energetic.  I think writing on the blog will help me with those things because maybe I will feel more accountable to whoever might be reading this, right?

Packing!

Packing for the move is overwhelming but I keep trying to remind myself how nice it will be once we are finally moved.  Our lease starts next Wednesday, October 15th and we are getting more and more excited about getting into the new house.  Our landlord has given us a lot of room to do things the way we want to.  He tells us that it's going to be our home and make it the way we want :)  He is an older man who is a customer and also goes to church with us.  Hubby is going to rip out the carpet in our bedroom and in the bedroom that Little Man and Baby Man will share and laying laminate flooring.  We are also going to have the main areas and our bedroom painted right before we move in.  Right now those areas are a shade of green that I cannot fathom looking at every day :)  So we will be painting those rooms/areas a tan color.  I am so excited to start over in a place that is ours.  We have been living in the house Hubby owned with his ex wife and it is time for a change.  I am really looking forward to making this new house our home!

This is a busy week.  Best Girl has a cross country meet tomorrow.  Little Man has a field trip tomorrow.  Best Girl also has a football game to dance at on Friday night.  Little Man and Princess have a Bible Quizzing competition on Saturday morning.  Tonight they all have youth and their various clubs at church.  Plus we are packing and trying to get ready for the move.  Baby Man is teething and into EVERYTHING!  I have given birth to six children and never have I had one who is as advanced in development as this little one!

New beginnings!

Welcome to our blog!  We are a family embarking on a brand new adventure.  In a few weeks we are moving to a different home on two acres and are very excited to be able to garden, have chickens and just live a little more self sufficient lifestyle.

Let me introduce you to our family.

We have been married for four years and are a blended family.  Hubby owns his own auto repair business and I am blessed to be a homemaker and full time wife and mom.  Together we have nine children.

My husband's oldest son is 21 and married to a beautiful girl and they are expecting their first child in January.  We are very excited to meet our first granddaughter.

He also has two daughters who live with their mom.  They are 16 and 13.

My oldest daughter Best Girl is 15.  I also have a son Buckaroo who is 13.  Another son Middle Man who is 11.  My next daughter, Princess, is 9. Little Man is 7.  Finally we were blessed with a child together this past March.  Baby Man is 7 months old now and the sunshine of all our lives.  We currently live in Western Maryland but in the next few weeks are moving about 20 minutes away and will then live in WV.

We are looking forward to sharing our adventures as we begin this new chapter of our lives.
